As part of our incubation at IIT Madras under the NIRMAAN Pratham Program, we are leveraging premier academic insights and technical mentorship to refine our design standards and intellectual property strategy.

BHEEMA (Bharat High-Efficiency Engine for Maritime Advancement) is an ambitious initiative spearheaded by the dedicated team of marine engineers at Phorcys VX Marines Pvt. Ltd., launched in january 2025.
Born from a collective vision to strengthen India’s maritime self-reliance, BHEEMA addresses the significant challenge of India’s annual marine engine imports, currently valued at around $55.76 million. Guided by insights from leading experts in modern marine engine technology, our mission is to develop India’s first indigenously designed dual-fuel 31 MW marine engine (Diesel + LNG).This next-generation engine will integrate cutting-edge AI-powered fuel injection systems and predictive maintenance capabilities, positioning India at the forefront of maritime propulsion technology. With a strategic roadmap and an initial design outlay of ₹190 crore, culminating in a total base cost of ₹690 crore, BHEEMA is aligned with national initiatives such as Sagarmala, Maritime India Vision 2030, and Amritkaal 2047.
Our goal is to transform India’s USD 2.2 billion marine engine market by 2030 through fully indigenous manufacturing, maintenance, retrofitting, and servicing solutions empowering India’s shipbuilding sector with engines that are truly made in India.
